What is the procedure for testing and assements?
Students will have two options to demonstrate their proficiency.
-
Students can report to the brick-and-mortar school’s Online Learning Lab or the designated alternate test site to complete the exam. It will be proctored by an EOA staff member.
-
Students can have a one-on-one virtual meeting with their teacher prior to the exam. The teacher will determine the student’s readiness and will open the exam.
Why were the testing requirements changed?
When EOA first launched, students checked in weekly in person, and all testing was proctored on site. During the pandemic, enrollment grew quickly and those in-person requirements were set aside.
We have recently observed a concerning trend of students completing online courses at an unusually rapid pace, sometimes without demonstrating the learning needed for lasting success. After hearing feedback from students and families about in-person testing, and reflecting on the challenges of transportation and access, we are adjusting to the following plan to make access easier for students.
This format for the testing will help us:
- Maintain the integrity of our courses.
- Ensure academic credit reflects real learning.
- Better prepare students for future studies and opportunities.
Students who have an IEP or 504 will be provided their accommodations, please reach out directly to their school counselor to discuss possible accommodations.
