Changes to Testing Access

Posted Date: 09/28/25 (11:58 AM)

Dear Students and Families,

We are writing to share an important update regarding in-person assessments for students enrolled in our online classes.

After hearing feedback from students and families and reflecting on the challenges of transportation and access, we are adjusting our original plan to make access easier for students.

Students will now have two options to demonstrate their proficiency.

  1. Students can report to the brick-and-mortar school’s Online Learning Lab or the designated alternate test site to complete the exam. It will be proctored by an EOA staff member.

  2. Students can have a one-on-one virtual meeting with their teacher prior to the exam. The teacher will determine the student’s readiness and will open the exam.

Note that Credit Recovery courses will still require in-person testing for all assessments.  Those courses, which students take if they have previously failed the subject, are identified as OL CR in the course title.

As always, IEP and 504 accommodations for alternate testing locations will be honored to ensure that every student has the support they need.

Our hope is that this testing model is manageable for our students, allows us to connect with them in person, and creates an authentic and supported testing environment. Our goal is to provide a strong and rigorous learning experience for our students so that upon completion, they have gained the skills needed for proficiency.

Thank you for your partnership as we continue to adapt our practices to best serve students and families. If you have questions about your student’s specific classes, please reach out directly to their teacher.

Warmly,

Scott MayersTeresa Myers
