State Testing
Dear EOA 11th Grade Parents and Guardians,
Re: OSAS ("State Testing") 2025 Update
This Spring, I am the school testing coordinator for the EOA MS and HS. If you have any questions about OSAS ("State Testing") please let me know via email: wade_e@4j.lane.edu
Below is the information the district has sent out via direct parent communication and also through your "home school" newsletters. In the message below, please notice the links embedded with access to 4J and the State of Oregon pages with more information and forms if you want more information or choose to "opt-out" of state testing.
For families who wish to have their student tested this Spring, they can test in-person at their "home" school (let me know ASAP if this is your desire) or the state offers 100% online programs (such as EOA) the option of Remote Testing from home using a secure browser.
I will send another email with a form to "OPT-IN" to allow your student to Remote Test later in March. This remote testing will occur starting the week of April 21 for EOA students.
As a parent/guardian (per Oregon law) you can "OPT-OUT" your students from the state testing for ELA and Math. You also may "Exempt" your student from the Science test (8th and 11th grade only). See the hyper links below for these forms and more information. You may submit these forms to 4J directly or return them to me via email. Again, if you have questions, please email. wade_e@4j.lane.edu
Official 4J message about OSAS testing (with embedded links):
Each spring, 6th-8th, and 11th grade students test in Math, ELA, and Science. Students and families can practice taking these tests here.
Though the federal government requires that 95% of enrolled students take these tests, families in Oregon can opt out of OSAS Math and ELA tests.
Families must submit a written exemption request to "opt out" of OSAS science tests based on accommodating a student's disability or religious beliefs.
